VISIONS OF HANUMAN: ANUSARA WORKSHOPS WITH NOAH MAZE
December 5-6, 2009
Masonic Hall in Porter Square
Cambridge, MA
Hanuman's story is lush, from the monkey child who leapt towards the sun thinking it a glowing mango, to the devoted adult's leap across the ocean of consciousness. Hanuman represents the powers of yogic attainment (ashta-siddhi) in service to life. He is the son of the wind who sits firmly in the heart, a bridge builder, fluent with graceful strength, and a changeling who can become whatever form is necessary for the fulfillment of yoga.
Hanuman represents our own empowered ability to bridge the deepest aspects of our hearts with the everyday world.
This workshop is part of a series of workshops on Yoga and Hindu Mythology created and offered by Elizabeth Brown and Roberto Lim to the Boston area yoga community.
SATURDAY, 10.00am - 12.30pm
Empowerment and Service (Svatantriya and Seva) All-Levels Workshop
In this full-spectrum class, inspired by Hanuman myth and teachings, we will celebrate our freedom and make offerings by aligning body and mind and heart in every pose.
SATURDAY, 3.00pm - 6.00pm
Radical Play; Intermediate/Advanced Workshop
In this playful (and radical) practice, inspired by the virtuosity and dexterity of Kama Rupini (Hanuman as shape shifter), we will follow progressive vinyasa sequencing into Level II and III Syllabus poses. Students should be able to kick to Adho Mukha Vrkshasana (handstand) unassisted, balance in Sirsasana I (headstand) in the middle of the room, and press up to Urdhva Dhanurasana (full backbend) with straight arms.
SUNDAY, 10.00am - 1.00pm
Hanuman’s Leap; All-Levels Workshop
Building on Saturday's class, we will weave stories of Hanuman's famous leaps into a full-spectrum class with an emphasis on balancing poses and vinyasa sequences.
